Ukraine and Chile deepen cooperation on returning abducted Ukrainian children

Recently a Ukrainian delegation led by Daria Herasymchuk, the President's Advisor on Children's Rights and Rehabilitation, visited Chile to strengthen efforts in returning Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.

This visit, part of the "Stolen Voices" campaign, followed President Zelenskyy’s announcement that the upcoming Global Peace Summit will focus on this critical issue.

During the visit, Daria Herasymchuk, along with Ukraine’s Ambassador to Chile Yuriy Dyudin, met with key Chilean officials, including the Deputy Minister of Justice for Human Rights J. Altamirano and representatives from various governmental and social organizations. The discussions emphasized the urgent need to rescue and return Ukrainian children, a core element of Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula.

In a joint event with the Canadian Embassy, the delegation highlighted the role of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children. Canada’s involvement and the prospect of Chile transitioning from observer to active participant were key topics.

The delegation also visited the University of Chile to engage with faculty and students, sharing firsthand accounts of the children’s ordeals and urging continued international support.
