Yesterday, during the third round of talks in Istanbul, Russian representatives claimed they had “processed” the initial list of 339 abducted children submitted by Ukraine almost two months ago. In reality, they ignored over 80% of the cases and gave fragmented answers on just a handful.
The list was submitted as a humanitarian gesture — an opportunity for Russia to demonstrate good faith and take a meaningful step toward returning the stolen children. At the moment, Russia is choosing not to seize that opportunity.
Ukraine remains open to dialogue but expects good faith cooperation on return of each child.
There can be no just peace without all our kids coming home.
