On September 10-11, 2024, a crucial event took place in Beijing: the Ukrainian and Canadian embassies in China hosted the Living the War exhibition as part of the "Together We Can: #BringKidsHome" event.
This was the first event in China specifically dedicated to raising awareness about the issue of abducted Ukrainian children — a subject of growing global concern.
The Living the War exhibition and book focus on the personal stories of Ukrainian children who have suffered from Russia's war of aggression. The audience, which included representatives from 39 embassies, media outlets, and think tanks, witnessed heart-wrenching images and accounts of children who were injured, abducted, or killed by Russian forces.
The event, which also featured a screening of Maria Spryngis' documentary WHY US?, reached an even broader audience on its second day when it opened to the public.
One of the most powerful aspects of the exhibition was the video installation, featuring stories of children who had been returned to Ukraine through the Bring Kids Back UA initiative.
The exhibition in Beijing follows previous successful presentations in Brussels, Mexico City, and Singapore.
We thank the embassies of Ukraine and Canada for their collaboration on this critical issue and look forward to seeing continued global support for our mission to bring all Ukrainian children home.
